HH Kiwanis Club Meeting

Speaker: Yvonne Spell Topic: City of Harker Heights is in Bell County and currently with a population of 35,000+. It was originally farmland in the 1950's owned by Pinckney R Cox and Harley Kern. In 1957 land was divided into residential lots. In 1960 it was officially incorporated and named after landowner Harley Kern and PR Cox served as the first Mayor. Rapid growth continued due to residents work with the military, defense and related services. Median household income is higher than the national average and unemployment is slightly below average and projected job growth is around 39%. The quality of life and community assets are very good in Harker Heights and it is focused on economic diversification.
