HH Kiwanis Club Meeting 7-22-25

Speaker: Wishonda DeLa Cruz Topic: Boys & Girls Club Harker Heights: is officially named the Subhani Family Clubhouse. It is located at 200 Nola Ruth Boulevard. This is the 30th location for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Texas. The clubhouse focuses on academic success, good character, healthy living, and mental wellness. It is open to youth ages 6-18. Cost is $25 a week. B&G Club provides a SAFE place for the students to be. There are scholarships for those who can not afford it. During the school year they serviced Mountain View Elementary, Harker Heights Elementary and Skipcha Elementary. They plan to add Nolanville and Cavazos Elementary this coming year. They don’t have a sports program there but work with Harker Heights Parks & Rec Dept. They do have a cooking program with volunteers and teach healthy eating habits. They also have a summer meal program with KISD. Much of the funding comes from grants, so they must meet all the standards set from the grant. They also have a Counseling Program, one of only a few in the state at no cost to the family. The center has the capacity of 250. For more information visit: bgca.org
