Gen (Ret) Robert M Shoemaker Citizenship Awards

The Kiwanis Club of Harker Heights annual GEN Robert M. Shoemaker Citizenship Awards concluded the final ceremony on May 22, 2025. All seven schools in Harker Heights and two schools in Nolanville participate in this annual awards program. GEN Robert M. Shoemaker was a senior member of the Harker Heights Kiwanis Club and upon his death the Club wanted to honor him by creating the annual Citizenship award. Each school selects a student who exemplifies what being a good citizen in their school and community as demonstrated by GEN Shoemaker in his contributions to the Central Texas area after retiring from the U.S. Army.
Each school has a commemorative plaque for this award and every year the students selected name will be added to the plaque for all students to view during the school year. Generally, it is awarded to the students next to their last year in their respective school. The Kiwanis Club provides a certificate and a medallion to each student and their name plate to be added to the plaque. The students are recognized at the end of school year awards ceremony in front of their peers, teachers, and parents.
The 2025 awardees are as follows:
Joab Ketter-Eastern Hills Middle School, Jhamia Lucas- Harker Heights High School, Hudson Hunter- Mountainview Elementary School, Liam Roberts-Skipcha Elementary School, Brylee Gentry-Harker Heights Elementary School, Keilani Charriez-Nolanville Elementary School, Phoebe Cayabyab-Nolan Middle School, Madison Bender-Cavasoz Elementary School, and Corban Kostencki-Union Grove Middle School.
